Downey Adult School – Career & Education Center (DAS) is committed to the safety of all students and employees. DAS has developed set guidelines and procedures addressing various types of emergencies. In ongoing efforts on how to respond to emergency situations, DAS conducts emergency drills (earthquake, fire, and lockdown) annually, at a minimum.

In the event of an emergency, all individuals are encouraged to not panic and follow the set guidelines specific to the emergency event at hand.  If emergency assistance is required, call 9-1-1. If dialing from a school phone, please remember to dial 9-9-1-1.  Remember to clearly state the nature of the emergency, the exact location of the emergency, and follow all instructions given by the 911 operator. When able to safely do so, please make sure that a school staff member is aware of the emergency situation.

Each classroom is equipped with an Emergency Clipboard containing all procedures and evacuation routes.  With the Emergency Clipboard, a First Aid Kit is provided for minor emergency medical needs.
