Providing your Social Security number (SSN) is voluntary and not required for enrollment at Downey Adult School (DAS). DAS does not disclose SSNs for any purpose without the consent of the student unless permitted or required by law. DAS is required by federal law to report student information to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) the name, address, and SSN for persons from whom tuition and related expenses are received. Federal law also required DAS to report student enrollment and student information data to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS). This reporting ensures accurate tracking of student loan activity, enrollment statuses, and other critical information related to federal student aid. Failure to provide a valid SSN may delay and/or prevent completion from programs that require California State licensure examinations. DAS will not disclose SSNs for any purpose without the consent of the student unless permitted or required by law. All personal information, including SSNs, is protected under FERPA and all applicable regulations, whether consent is given or denied.
