The Emergency Medical Technician course prepares the EMT student to provide pre-hospital assessment and care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include an introduction to emergency medical services systems, roles and responsibilities of EMTs, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, trauma, special considerations for working in the pre-hospital setting, and providing patient transportation.

What will I do in this field?
You would be able to perform patient assessments, vital signs, administer some medications and transport patients.
What prerequisites are required?
- High School Diploma or GED, 18 years old, meet the medical requirements (Current physical, immunization record, Cleared PPD or Chest X-Ray) and a background check.
What skills will student have upon completion of the program?
Infection Control concepts, legal and HIPAA regulations. You will be able to do the following: Airway management, O2 administration, CPR, AED use, Medication administration, pressure dressings, splinting, Nuero Immobilization, OB Deliveries, Patient Assessment, Vital Signs, and Soft Tissue Injury management. Be prepared to take the National Exam for EMT Certification.
What are some career opportunities?
After completion of the course and passing your National Exam you will be able to work as an EMT in Ambulance Company, hospital, air transport and become an ambulance driver.
