FRIDAY, May 28th at 1:00pm (Room J93), we are having an ORIENTATION for our MEDICAL ASSISTANT program. Orientations are the best place to get answers to your questions about becoming a Medical Assistant and how financial aid can possibly help.

A career as a Medical Assistant consists of managing phone calls, scheduling appointments and greeting patients. They help with patients by taking the pulse, respiration, temperature, blood pressure. They administer injections, apply bandages and dressings, record electrocardiograms (EKG), and more.

We loved this picture so much, we decided to share Stanley's story with you! Stanley Sakai is a 28-year-old CSR and CRC from Seattle, Washington. He began teaching himself stenography as a faster way to take notes while obtaining his degree in linguistics from the University of Washington. In 2013, he relocated to New York City where he now lives and works as a freelance captioner and CART provider, offering realtime services in English and Spanish. Stanley is also a hobbyist programmer and uses his coding skills to contribute to projects such as Aloft, a caption-streaming app he began in 2015, and Plover, an open-source steno translation engine. Stanley maintains an active Web presence, producing YouTube content and publishing blog posts about various steno-related topics.
